Introduction

Ramanagara makes a great weekend getaway because it’s close enough to Bangalore for hiking and other adventure activities. Ramnagara hills, located 50 km from Bangalore along the Bangalore-Mysore highway, are a great place to unleash your inner swashbuckler. Ramanagaram is believed to be the birthplace of rock climbing. It is home to many mountains including Ramgiri and SRS betta as well as Kakasura betta and Katagiri.

A trek through the stunning Ramnagara hills should be on every adventurer’s bucket lists. Also known as the Sholay hills, they provide the backdrop for many wildlife, including Indian bears, leopards, and vultures. The magnificent temples that the Magadi and Mysore rulers built on the summits of each mountain still exude the spirit of past eras.
